"MIGRA - Promote Integration by Awareness Raising and Counselling"
The goal of MIGRA is the awareness raising for the specific needs and problems of women migrants, by providing information on the legal conditions as well as by contributing to a change of attitude – based on the European values’ system (tolerance, solidarity, mutual understanding, etc.).
This project is supported by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Commission for the promotion of active European citizenship. The Federal Minister for Women and Civil Service in Austria is co-financing the project between 1.8.2009 and 30.7.2010.
Within the framework of seminars, workshops and an international conference we would like to reach a large number of multipliers. Experts give trainings for the counselling of women migrants and the counsellors will use their newly acquired know-how in their work with the clients. Eleven partners from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and the Slovak Republic have created a strong network of actors from public institutions and NGOs. The webpage of the project can be reached at:
The project was carried out by organising four different types of events:

- Training Course: 6 workshops (half day) for multipliers, who work as counsellors. The workshops were provided by experienced trainers who work in counselling centers for (female) migrants. Topics of the workshops: legal basics, anti-discrimination, intercultural competences, counselling/psychotherapy for women with migrant background, mentoring for migrants, forced marriage.

- 3 expert workshops for multipliers in Vienna, Lower Austria and Salzburg:
Lectures were given by members of our Austrian partner organisations: Ombud for Equal Treatment, Womens’ Ministry and the Womens’ Department of Salzburg. Topics of the workshops were basics of the Austrian Law on Migration and examples and case studies taken from the daily work of the above-mentioned Austrian partner organisations.

- 3 transnational seminars in Bozen (IT), Bratislava (SK) and Prague (CZ):
Experts from our transnational project partners talked about chances, concerns and problems of female migrants in their respective countries and their work concerning counselling and awareness raising. The Austrian participants talked about their experiences in Austria concerning the chances, concerns and problems of female migrants in Austria and shared case studies of their daily work. These seminars were organised by the transnational partners.

- International Conference was organized in Vienna (06/29/2010) with inputs from the transnational partners concerning the situation of female migrants in their countries. Project results were presented. The Powerpoint presentation of Hungary (Foundation for the Women of Hungary/MONA) is as follows:
