"The Women Parliamentarians of Hungary: How to involve more women at the national level?"
November 11, 1993 - Budapest, the Parliament
In the light of the national elections which was to take place in 1994, it was important to nominate more women candidates, to support the incumbent women members of the parties, and to finance these campaigns. The 26 women in Hungarian parliament were invited to discuss their experiences as women MP-s and what steps they would take to involve more women. MONA invited Lesley Abdela (300 Group in the UK) and Georgia Sorenson (director of the Center for Political Leadership and Participation in Washington D.C.), 10 candidates running for political office in 1994. Participants had the opportunity to learn from the experiences of the women MP-s as well as contribute fresh ideas for the possible re-election campaigns of those who held office at that time.
